Culture

The culture of Thailand is a wonderful confluence of India, China and uniquely Thai things and Phuket is the perfect reflection of this. It is one of the few countries which was never colonized by Western countries. Thai culture and traditions stand to testify to this preservation. The coalescence of busy modern cities and the serene world of the forests and historical temples is hard to believe unless you see it with your own eyes.

Thai values

It is important for the tourists to show reverence towards Thai culture and customs. Thai people are humble, harmonious and care a great deal about honor. Therefore , the foreigners are expected to be respectful to their customs and traditions and must not hurt the sentiments of the community.

The cuisine of Thailand is unique. From the exotic elements used in it to the process through which it is cooked. Like most Asian countries, Thailand too is dominated by the strong presence of rice. Phuket’s strange charm and the exotic aroma is something you can get enough of. It is amazing to see, a country so modern and advanced, still has such a well-preserved spiritual side. There are many temples here, frequented more than often by the locals as well as the foreigners.

Wat Chalong is a historical Buddha temple that is of immense importance to the Thais, most of whom are of Buddhist religion. Though it is officially called Wat Chaithararam, the temple is popularly known as Wat Chalong. It is situated on ChaoFa West Road in the northern part of Tambon Chalong.

The temple was built in the 19 th century. The founders of Wat Chalong were two monks- Luang Pho Cham and Luang Pho Chuang, who guided the citizens of Chalong Sub-district in fighting against the Chinese rebellion that took place back in 1876. With their knowledge of herbal medicine, they helped the injured during the conflict.

The architecture and the interiors of the temple will leave you stunned. The tangible serenity of the place will put your mind in peace.
